Bonjour! I’m in Europe for two weeks, starting in Paris. This is my first time to Europe and needless to say, I am super excited about the food here.
Got in last evening after a pretty awful flight, and had a delicious dinner at a nearby brasserie. I had duck confit with potato gratin, and everything was decadent without feeling too heavy–does that make any sense?
At night, we wandered around the Eiffel Tower. It’s absolutely gorgeous when it’s all lit up, and you can bring a bottle of wine and hang out in the grass.
After a much needed night of sleep, we woke up early this morning and went out for groceries. We were a little too early–lots of places were closed at 7:30 AM. Apparently Parisians sleep in more than we do in the states. Luckily, a bakery was open!
We grabbed some baguettes and croissants, and made our way over to a local market for eggs and produce. Finally, we grabbed some coffee, sat outside, and people watched until the rest of our friends woke up.
Our grocery haul is simple: bread, eggs, brie, cured ham, heirloom tomatoes, peaches, and avocados (leave it to the California girl to grab the biggest avocados she could find in Paris).
Our breakfast is simple, but seriously delicious. The eggs are especially good out here!
Will keep you posted with more food adventures as they come along. If you have suggestions on where to go and what to eat in Paris, please send them my way!
